The base has a rotatable mirror inside which you can adjust it's position to gain contrast. The microscope offers a wide zoom range from 8x - 50x and offers a wide field of view with its 10x/22mm FOV eyepieces. The optional trinocular head allows you to add a camera to this system. With the built in LED 23 light ring light and dual gooseneck LED illumination this microscope provides adequate lighting options.
